Kurashiki
From Hiroshima we went to Kurashiki, a town built around a willow-lined canal, featuring centuries-old storehouses with white walls and black tile roofs. These have been converted into ryokan, museums, art studios, etc. We really wish we could have spent more time here.

The canal, swans. I'm sure it's even prettier in the spring and summer.

A little statue in the garden of the teahouse at the famous old ryokan where we stayed. Frommer's recommends visiting the garden even if you aren't staying at the ryokan. It was really a gorgeous place.

Another end of the canal toward dusk. It's a really peaceful place.

Requisite lousy photo of the happy couple. Outside of the ryokan.

As long as we're tallying things, we went to a total of 11 cities in Japan: Kyoto, Hiroshima, Miyajima (day trip), Kurashiki, Osaka, Himeji (day trip), Koya-san, Nara, Sakai (day trip), Tokyo, and Echigo-Yuzawa.

See our marvelous telephone system!

Oh, wait, that's Norway, I think.

But seriously, you're always welcome to come crash here for a while. Autumn is the best time 'coz we get dramatic colours, and if you want comfy weather, spring and autumn are both good. And, of course, if you want festivals, the summer is where it's at.

Originally built Eduard Ispovednikom more than a thousand years ago, Parliament (Palace of Westminster), remained the main residence of the British monarchs for more than 400 years. The palace was the capital of the country. In 1834, a large fire destroyed the entire building, except Westminster Hall. Construction in the mock Gothic style, which we see today, was built in 1840. The Parliament will be recalled most of their hours, which are commonly referred to as Big Ben. Although Parliament closed for the sessions, it remains a popular attraction because of its exterior. The height of 135 metres and coach more than 250 double-deck buses, the London Eye is the most spectacular attractions that appeared in the city recently. Top offered stunning views of the main significant sites in London, and the geography of the city in the long run. Forward-wheel design of the architects David Marks and Julia Barfield, winning construction projects in honor of the new millennium. The translation of the draft took six years and involved hundreds of people in five European countries. It is a whole day exploring one of the biggest and best collections of Western art, and never enough to see and enjoy all through. Hard to believe that the national collection began with all 38 of pictures in the house of a wealthy banker Poll-Molle (in the Victoria and Albert Museum is a painting that depicted the paintings at the home of John Julius Angershtayna). And despite the fact that the collection includes work by Raphael, Rembrandt, Rubens and Tiziana, it could not compete with other museums, and in 1824 the Parliament agreed to provide a building for the gallery at Trafalgar Square in the city centre. Gallery occupies the northern part of the area. The building was built on the draft William Wilkins, characteristic of his style is impressive neoclassical facade with columns. By the end of the century, the museum enthusiasts and generous benefactors National Gallery turned into one of the best collections of the world, including pictures, Italian Renaissance artists and even earlier periods, including Flemish and Dutch masters and the Spanish school of painting, and of course, the British artists : Hogarta, Gainsborough, Stubbs and Konstabl.
